Anna Monteduro
Community Pillars
Anna Monteduro is a firm believer in the power of community and the difference one person can make. Inspired by the legacy of her late father, Agostino Monteduro, Anna has dedicated her life to volunteerism and civic service.
As Chair of La Serata Italiana (an annual fundraising gala initiated by her father in 1984) Anna has carried forward his vision with passion and purpose. This event, held in support of kidney health research, honours Agostino’s tireless efforts to find a cure for kidney disease, and remains a tribute to his enduring impact.
Under Anna’s leadership, La Serata Italiana has raised between $35,000 and $65,000 annually for the Kidney Research Centre and the Kidney Foundation of Canada. In 2019, the Mario Frangione Scholarship Fund was launched through the initiative, providing $500 scholarships to kidney patients or their family members pursuing post-secondary education. In 2022, the La Serata Italiana organizing committee was recognized with the Outstanding Philanthropic Group Award, having surpassed $1 million in lifetime donations to the Kidney Foundation.
Anna’s contributions were further recognized in 2023 when she received the FILO Award, celebrating inspirational Italian Canadian women in Ottawa. In 2024, La Serata proudly achieved a new fundraising record of $65,000—an accomplishment Anna credits to the tireless efforts and camaraderie of her committee.
Even amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Anna’s commitment never wavered. Between 2020 and 2022, she successfully transitioned the fundraising campaign online—harnessing social media, virtual outreach, and community networks to maintain momentum. With her leadership, the committee distributed $100 grocery gift cards to 100 kidney patients and continued to raise substantial donations for kidney research.
Anna devotes countless volunteer hours to organizing, planning, designing, and promoting the event. Her creativity and dedication are evident in every detail, and her efforts have ensured La Serata Italiana remains a beloved and impactful tradition in Ottawa’s philanthropic landscape.
While every successful initiative depends on teamwork, La Serata Italiana thrives because of Anna’s vision, generosity, and leadership. Her warmth, selflessness, and infectious energy uplift everyone she works with. A true community builder, Anna Monteduro continues to make a lasting impact—both in honour of her father’s legacy and through her own unwavering commitment to making a difference.
