Roberta Della Picca
Roberta Della-Picca has dedicated countless hours of passion, devotion, and commitment to a wide variety of community and social issues for over 40 years. She has devoted her lifetime to the expressive arts for health and wellness, and for community engagement. Several memorable projects where she has been a key member include the “Countdown Pebble Mosaic Project” (the first in North America of permanent, outdoor memorials to commemorate survivors of sexual abuse installed in eight locations in Ontario); a joint project of organizations called “Women and Girls’ Eyes on the Neighbourhood: Feeling Safe”; Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Center, City for All Women Initiative (CAWI) – “Women’s Initiatives for Safer Environments”; and Crime Prevention Ottawa. She was also a developer and facilitator of the manual, “Creating the Change We Wish to See: Neighbourhood Capacity-Building” that was released by the City of Ottawa, Community Development Framework.
Her awards and achievements include an Individual Crime Prevention Ottawa Community Safety Award; the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal; and, the Order of Ottawa Medal, honouring her dedication to the many community organizations.
