Teegan Bergeron
Women of Inspiration
Teegan Bergeron is a compassionate and resilient community leader whose journey reflects nearly a decade of sustained engagement with youth services, grounded in lived experience and a deep commitment to giving back.
Her connection to The Door Youth Centre began in 2015, when she first accessed the centre as a youth participant. During her teenage years, she found a safe and supportive environment that fostered belonging, mentorship, and personal growth. She remained actively involved until age 19, gradually taking on volunteer responsibilities beginning in 2016, including support at Annual General Meetings, special events, and youth programming.
In 2025, Teegan returned to The Door as an adult volunteer, marking a full-circle moment in her journey. Motivated by gratitude and a strong desire to support others, she now dedicates her time weekly to drop-in programs, youth mentorship, meal preparation, life-skills activities, and community outreach. She is known for her consistency, reliability, and ability to build trust with young people. Youth respond to her authenticity and lived experience, and she plays a meaningful role in fostering confidence, inclusion, and emotional support within the space.
Teegan’s impact extends beyond day-to-day programming. She regularly supports community events and outreach initiatives, strengthening service delivery through hands-on involvement and steady leadership. Her presence contributes to a welcoming environment where young people feel seen, heard, and valued.
In September 2025, she began studying Human Services Foundations at Algonquin College, aligning her academic path with her long-term commitment to supporting vulnerable populations. Her studies reflect intentional preparation for a career in community and youth services, informed directly by her own transformative experiences.
Teegan’s nearly ten years of engagement with The Door Youth Centre demonstrate a rare continuity of service, growth, and leadership. She exemplifies emerging community leadership rooted in empathy, consistency, and action. Her journey reflects the belief that when young people are supported, they often return as the very mentors and leaders who strengthen the next generation.
