Lifetime Contribution

Robin Moir has been a dynamic force in the Canadian entertainment industry for over 50 years. A singer, songwriter, producer, director, and on-camera host, she began her career as a performer and has since become a tireless advocate for musicians’ rights.

Robin is currently Secretary-Treasurer of AFM Local 180, Musicians’ Association of Ottawa-Gatineau, and also serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the Canadian Conference of Musicians. She is a respected leader in the American Federation of Musicians (AFM/CFM), where she works behind the scenes to promote fair business practices, negotiate collective agreements, and educate musicians on the importance of treating their art as a sustainable profession.

Her musical career includes standout performances across Canada and on national television and radio. In 1967, she performed on Parliament Hill for Queen Elizabeth II during Canada’s centennial celebrations, and again in 1982, singing the national anthem at the National Arts Centre. In 1976, she was nominated for a Juno Award for Best New Female Vocalist.

Robin has been a featured backup vocalist on many recordings and broadcasts, including The Raccoons, Christmas in the Valley, and On the Road Again. She has worked closely with Wayne Rostad for decades, producing his Light Up the Night holiday event for over 30 years and continuing to support his Christmas concert tours.

She also composed the theme song Never Again! for the War Amputations of Canada’s educational video series—a project that spanned over 30 years and earned her numerous international awards.

Robin received Her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 for her outstanding contributions to Canadian war veterans. Beyond accolades, her greatest joy lies in bringing music to people of all ages and helping musicians build lasting, meaningful careers.
